The James Island Cup wrapped up a great weekend of youth soccer on Sunday afternoon with 20 champions being crowned. All of the Charleston area's (8) youth soccer clubs were represented amongst the 94 teams.The host club James Island Youth Soccer Club and Mt. Pleasant Soccer club each had 6 teams win their flights and (8) other clubs each won (1) title. 
On behalf of JIYSC, Lowcountry Soccer wishes to thank all of the wonderful boys and girls who played their hearts out this weekend. We would also like to recognize the (20) teams that were recipients of their flight's "Fair Play" award for good sportsmanship. A big thanks also goes out to the out of town teams that came from GA, NC, SC and TN.

Lowcountry Soccer, the Union Latina Soccer League and McDonald's have teamed up to develop a 7v7 Futbolito League in Goose Creek. This men's weeknight men's league is hosted by the Goose Creek Recreation Commission at Foster Creek Park. The Fall 08 season kicks off on Friday, 9/26 with the First Division teams. In total, 26 teams will be playing in (3) divisions: 1st, 2nd, and Veteranos (Over 30). League matches will be played on Wednesday and Friday evenings.
The Futbolito 7v7 league is predominantly Latino based with teams made up of players from Brazil, Honduras, El Salvador, Mexico, Bolivia and other latin american countries. To follow the league click here for schedules and results.

Seven local youth teams went down to the Disney Sports Complex in Orlando this past weekend to compete in the 2009 Challenge Tour 3v3 Nationals with over 600 teams from throughout the country. One team, the Apple Gang III U12 Girls won the Recreation division title and a National Championship with an overall record of 5-0-1. They beat the Canes 4-1 in the finals. Congratulations! Another Mt. Pleasant SC team, the Apple Gan II U11 Boys made it all the way to championship match of the Rec division, but lost in a heartbreaker 8-7 to the Cayman Islands team. Their overall record was 5-1-0. Here are the remaining teams and how they fared: 98 Arsenal (SSC)/Boys U9 Comp (2-2), Vultures (JIYSC)/Boys U8 Open (0-4), JI Attack (JIYSC) Boys U8 Open (3-1-1), Listo Y Fuerte (JIYSC) Boys U10 Comp (1-3), and the Apple Gang I (MPSC) Boys U12 Comp (3-2).
