LYSL Fall 2007 Playoffs

Girls Gold Division
Semifinals
CUSC U10 Black  8-0 over JIYSC U10 White
MP Revolution 5-0 over MP Impact
Championship Wrap-up
This was the most inspiring match of the day in the Girls divisions! CUSC U10 Black, a talented and well coached team,  had been untouchable all season
averaging almost 8 goals a game. Then along came the smaller and fiesty MP Revolution team who mirrored their coach's energy with an all out effort all game long to play as hard as they could. The score was 1-0 at the half on a goal by Remi Olalare.  CUSC would score 2 more times in the 2nd half, another by Remi and by Kayla Kleinfeldt. But the Revolution kept on coming and scored a goal by Anslie Bucknam. Even in defeat they cheered their accomplishment.
FInal Score: CUSC U10 Black  - 3  MP Revolution  - 1

Girls U10 Blue Division
Semifinals
WSC Hot Shots I 6-1 over MP Fusion
CUSC White 2-1 over MP Rage
Championship Wrap-up
The Walterboro Hot Shots went undefeated this season capping it off with solid performance in the finals against CUSC U10 White. Kaitlin Ramey took matters into her own hand early and throughout the match as she scored 5 goals. (I think we might see the Hot Shots moving up to the Gold Division in the Spring)
Final Score: WSC Hot Shots 1  -7  CUSC U10 White  -1

Girls U10 Red DIvision
Semifinals
SSC U9/10 White 2 (PK) - 1 over MP Fury
SSC U9/10 Pinewood 3-0 over WSC Hot Shots II
Championship Wrap-up
Summerville White was able to get out on top early with a goal by Macy Rickus in the 6th minute.  The halftime score was 4-0. Pinewood came out fired up and scored 3 minutes into the 2nd half on a goal by Callie Clark. However it was not enough as Meredith Welsh scored her 3rd goal of the game for SSC White 10 minutes later and then Emma Leftwich added her 2nd goal of the game late in the game.
Final Score:  SSC U9/10 White  6  SSC U9/10 Pinewood  1

Boys U10 Gold Division
Semifinals
BCU Academy 4-1 over SSC U9 Blue
MP Strikers 3-2 over BCU U10
Championship Wrap-up
William Davidson scored the winning goal in the beginning of the 2nd half for BCU Academy (currently known as Daniel Island Soccer Academy).
Final Score: BCU Academy White  -3  MP Strikers  -1

Boys U10 Blue Division
Semifinals
CUSC U10 White  4-1 over JIYSC U9 Silver
MP Rapids 4-3 over MP Hurricanes
Championship Wrap-up
Danielle Lowe scored the winning goal in the middle of the 2nd half for CUSC. The MP Rapids fought hard and stayed within striking distance until the very end. But, led by Akim Olalare, CUSC came through with several timely defensive plays to preserve the victory.
Final Score: CUSC U10 White  - 3   MP Rapid  - 2

Boys U10 Red Division
Semifinals
NCSA Galaxy 2-1 over MP Fire
BCU U9 2-1 over JIYSC U9 White
Championship Wrap-up
Andrew Veloso was credited with the game winning goal in the middle of the 1st half as his header deflected off a BCU defender and into the goal. The game was back and forth throughout with both teams having good chances to score. In the end the header/BCU own goal was the difference.
Final Score: NCSA Galaxy - 1  BCU U9  - 0

Girls U12 Division
Semifinals
JIYSC U11 White 1-0 over MP Cougars
WSC Embers 1-0 (PK) over MP Courage
Championship Wrap-up
Two different styles of play clashed in the finals with the Walterboro Embers playing much defensively and counter attacking vs the James Island U11 team trying to push the ball forward whenever possible. It was working for WSC until Jordan Funk scored for JI to make the halftime score 1-0. The match continued much the same way in the 2nd half and again JI was able to add another goal, this time by Caroline Smith.
Final Score: JIYSC U11 White  - 2   WSC Embers  - 0

Boys U12 Division
Semifinals
MP Crew I 1-0 over JIYSC U12 Black
CUSC U12 White 5-0 over MP Crew II
Championship Wrap-up

Final Score: MP Crew I - 3 (PK)  CUSC U12 White - 2

Girls U15 Division
Semifinals
JIYSC U15 White 6-0 over WSC Inferno
GCU Chaos 2-1 over JIYSC U14 Black
Championship Wrap-up:
GCU Chaos and JIYSC U15 White were evenly matched and the 0-0 halftime score reflected that. Five minutes into the 2nd half Brooks Domingo hit a shot from just inside the penalty box that put the Chaos ahead 1-0.  GCU applied a lot of pressure on JIYSC for the next 20 minutes, but they weathered the storm.  With less than 10 minutes left in the game JI girls equalized on a goal by Lorena Kaelser. The match went into OT and the last goal of the game was scored by Kaylee Gormel for GCU in the 1st OT period giving them the division championship.
Final score: GCU Chaos 2 OT JIYSC U15 White 1

Boys U15 Division
Semifinals
NCSA Dawgs 6-0 over SSC U13 Navy
Georgetown Steelers 1-0 over Walterboro Firestorm
Championship Wrap-up:
The NCSA Dawgs went undefeated for the regular season to take the #1 seed and they did not disappoint their fans in the finals. That said, the GSC Steelers gave them all they could handle in the 1st half keeping the Dawgs scoreless until 5 minutes before halftime. Jesus Carreno scored the first of his (4) goals to give his team a 1-0 lead at the half.  He would score again at the 39, 53, and 65 minute marks and with Brent Barfield’s goal the Dawgs won 5-1.  Derek Fox scored for Georgetown.
Final Score: NCSA Dawgs 5  GSC Steelers 1

Sidenote: This is the initial season for the Georgetown Soccer Club, which is made up of two teams (Boys U18 & U14) representing the Georgetown, Waccamaw, Andrews area. The U18 team is playing the the PMSL. Congtaulations on a great start!

Boys U16 Division
Semifinals
Blue Crab United U15 3-0 over JIYSC U16 White
GCU U16 Lightning 6-1 over Ebony City Peles
Championship Wrap-up:
BCU also went undefeated through the regular season as the #1 seed. They controlled most of the match with aggressive play to the ball and were able to penetrate the Lightning’s defense with their quickness. BCU had a goal called back halfway into the 1st half, but they tallied with a few minutes left on a goal by Connor Akers. BCU scored again in the 44th minute (Andrew Gray) and GCU had to resort to counter attacking, but could not find the back of the net. Connor Akers iced the match with his second goal at the 70th minute.
Final Score: BCU 3  GCU Lightning 0
